The OEP Couplings type UA Oldham/universal coupling accommodates very large radial and angular misalignment while exerting very low reactive forces on support bearings. Because all major components are precision CNC machined from alloy 7075 aircraft aluminum, the UA is extremely strong and stiff, with zero backlash. Replaceable Delrin (or optional Torlon) wear bushings in the midsection prevent metal-to-metal contact and meter out lubrication from an internal grease reservoir, ensuring millions of cycles of smooth operation. The UA offers an unsurpassed combination of strength, stiffness, and flexibility. Bores are available in plain or keyed, inch or metric; hubs are available with clamping mechanism or set screw. A complete coupling consists of two hubs and one midsection.

The Lovejoy S-Flex coupling design is comprised of three parts: two flanges with internal teeth that engage an elastomeric flexible sleeve with external teeth. Torque is transmitted through the flanges mounted on both the driver and driven shafts via the sleeve. The shear characteristic of the S-Flex coupling is very well suited to absorb impact loads. Misalignment and torsional shock loads are absorbed by shear deflection in the sleeve. Lovejoy's S-Flex coupling offers combinations of flanges and sleeves which can be assembled to suit your specific applications. The S-Flex flanges are offered in five models which are made from zinc or cast iron. Sleeves are available in EPDM rubber, Hytrel or Neoprene to address a wide variety of application requirements. Lovejoy offers multiple types of elastomer designs to allow for additional flexibility in addressing specific application requirements. Each of the types provide different performance capabilities for the coupling, including torque rating, RPM speed, dampening capacity, chemical resistance, and operating temperature ranges. Within the different elastomer types are two different designs, solid center spiders and open-center type spiders. The solid center design is the commonly used design when shafts of the driver and driven equipment can be kept separate by a standard gap. The open-center design allows for the shafts of the driver and driven to be positioned within a short distance. Open-center elastomers offer shaft positioning flexibility but offer lower RPM capacity.
